Ik this sounds exteremely odd...?

lol but i have a hermit crab and he always smell like maple syrup, i dont just put him up to my face and smell him ofc xD, but one day i saw a piece of sumthin on his big claw moving and i saw it was a bug or sumthing idk, anyways i saw wat it was and i smelled syrup O_O lol, at first i thought my lil sis had putted pancakes in the hermit crabs cage T_T is this a health problem for my crab? lol like i said verry odd...
