Are invisible retainers any good?
The Invisalign retainers are usually not covered by insurance, and are EXPENSIVE. Depending on how long you have to wear them for (usually around 6 months if you only need gaps closed), will still set you back a thousand dollars or more. You have to have molds taken of your mouth, and those are sent off to a lab which makes the retainer. I don't think they're supposed to hurt like braces, because the force of the retainer is much less than a standard wire and bracket set up. There's nothing cranking your teeth into position, just mild pressure. You have to wear them all the time, except when eating, and you get new ones every few weeks that continue the adjustment of your teeth. They are not noticeable, are easy to clean, just be sure to keep them in a case when not in use. Since they are clear they are easy to lose!
